Accept Adapt & Improvise

The lesson for this year seems to be one of acceptance. Many of us are navigating un-chartered waters with our businesses, our jobs, our education our social lives and our health. There is so much that we cannot predict or control and yet we can still continue to live our lives to the full, if perhaps in new ways.

Here at Rainmaker Gallery all plans are flexible and we are working with what comes our way, as and when things materialise. My philosophy in the time of covid is accept, adapt and improvise. So I accept that the new exhibition I was hoping to announce will be postponed until later in the year. We will adapt by extending the current exhibition '

' until the end of September and improvise by substituting the sold artwork from the show with different works, for a new version of 'Emergence'.

‘Emergence’ marks the re-emergence of our communities from the confines inflicted on the world by the Covid-19 virus. The works selected for this exhibition reference healing, ceremony, meditation, nature and resilience.

Work in progress - a sneak peek at Pat Pruitt's new dragonfly designs in the making.

A Flight of Dragonflies

In June we announced an exclusive range of gloriously colourful feather earrings made for Rainmaker Gallery by celebrated metalsmith Pat Pruitt from Laguna Pueblo. Every pair sold out within 24 hours of our newsletter!Happily there is something new on the horizon. At this very moment Pat is working on a brand new earring design. They will be dragonflies created from anodised titanium.  This technique produces a spectrum of vibrant colours and every pair will be unique . So if you missed out on the feathers do not fret. This time the earrings will first be displayed in the gallery and later offered for sale on the website. That way I get to enjoy them and gallery visitors get to purchase them too. So if you, like me, are a fan of Pat Pruitt's extraordinary jewellery and you love dragonflies as much as I do, make a plan to visit the gallery at the beginning of September to choose from the full flight of dragonflies.

August Break

In any ordinary year I would be in America on a buying trip this month. However like most of us I am grounded in the UK for the foreseeable future. That being the case, next week I am taking a short break in Cornwall. The gallery will be closed from 16 - 24 August. Re-opening on Tuesday 25th. See you later!

My best wishes to you,

Jo xx
