Tech Feathers by Pat Pruitt, Chiricahua Apache & Laguna Pueblo.

Tech Feathers

Alongside the exhibition we have a sumptuous display of new 'tech feather' earrings by master metalsmith Pat Pruitt. These magnificent feathers are crafted from titanium and individually laser anodised to create the unique colour combinations of each pair. The markings reference eagle feathers and the joyful colours are reminiscent of parrot plumage. Both eagle and parrot play pivotal roles in the emergence stories of the Southwest tribes. The feathers come in two sizes, long 7.5cm and short 5.5cm. See the website for the full range.

How do you use yours?

This week we received a top up delivery of magnificent

from Pendleton Woollen Mills. Pendleton weave the symbols and stories of Native America into fabulous woollen masterpieces. These blankets have become traditional honouring gifts for Native Peoples. Rights of passage such as births, coming of age, graduation, marriage, major milestones and accomplishments are all marked with the giving of a blanket. Not only are they used daily in the home but they are also worn for ceremonies, celebrations and feast days.

Thank you to

for this photo of Rory using his saddle blanket gift from Rainmaker Gallery as a meditation blanket. How do you use yours? Send me a photo :)

One of the most difficult aspects of these challenging times is the distancing from those we love. If you are desperate to hug your family members and cherished friends what better way to make them feel warm and safe and loved than the gift of a beautiful

this Christmas.

Thank you

In 2021 we celebrate the 30th year of Rainmaker! I want to thank you all for your enduring support and participation throughout the years but especially through this current challenging year. We only need to listen to the news to see how many businesses have struggled. I feel so blessed to have made it through thus far. Hopefully next year I will be able to travel back to Indian Country, to source more wonderful works and plan a special exhibition to mark our anniversary.

Take care, keep warm, be kind to yourself,

Jo xx
